AWE Conversation Series 2021
The Australasian Women in Emergencies Network (AWE) is excited to announce that the AWE Conversation Series will continue in 2021.
The Conversation Series enables all of us to listen to and engage in conversation with our women leaders.
With over 1300 members, we have a broad and inspiring range of skills and experiences, across a variety of roles in the emergency management and disaster resilience sector. Some of our members have decades of experience in roles as diverse as emergency response, emergency management, humanitarian support, community engagement, government policy and program, research and academia, consultancy, and volunteering.
Our conversation series was a ‘beacon of light’ and a source of interest for many of us during 2020 – our first year of COVID. The feedback we received about this series was very positive and so we are again hosting another series of conversations during 2021.
We hold monthly conversations on the third Thursday of each month from 5-6pm (AEST). This means that depending on where we are, we can enjoy: an afternoon coffee/tea break; a late afternoon glass of wine or beer; or an evening drink, all the while enjoying the company of other AWEsome members! Each month a member of the AWE Committee or AWE Chapter Lead will host a conversation. The series is a great way to meet other members and enjoy sharing experiences and learning from one another.
We are keen to include diverse speakers from across our membership in 2021. We would love to hear from you with your suggestions for speakers. Feel free to nominate someone you’d like to hear from AND please think about offering yourselves as well. One of the many exciting things about our network is that we have so many members who are involved in important roles and doing interesting work. If you are willing to share interesting projects and/or chat about your role, we’d love to hear from you. These conversations are relaxed and it is a great way to learn more about one another. Great opportunities have come from these casual conversations.
